| Train on tracks |

| | sleepy | ] | So I've had my first weigh in since I started using the personal trainer and no I won't say how much I weigh, not yet at least, but I am happy to say that I've dropped 7lbs(3.18kg) since I started. So it seems its actually starting to work. Along with what I've already lost from starting to eat right, I'm really hoping that by this time next year I'll be able to put up a pic of me that I can be proud of instead of ashamed of.
Not much else is happening. I've mostly been spending my time at home or at work. The only change was Sunday when I helped throw my father his 60th surprise birthday party.
Ohhh, I'm curious to know if anyone around me is interested in trying a GURPS game at my place once or twice a month. Let me know. |

| Sore Dragon |
[Nov. 13th, 2008|04:51 pm] |
So I've been working out with the trainer a few times now. I'm sore, but each session I have been able to do more so I'm slowly improving. An hour each time though takes a lot out of me so far. Though we work on pretty much my entire body each time. I will say though that wearing ankle cuffs in front of an older gentleman telling me to do things....is.....odd. Heh, enough on that tough, we've been doing basic stuff and weight lifting exercises. I don't think he believed me at first when I told him that 50lbs (22.7kg) wasn't that much. He got a surprise when he saw that I could do that with one hand. I may not look strong, but I am. Not much else to say about it at the moment, hopefully I'll start to really show weight loss in the next few weeks. I'll let ya all know.
On another note, we've had not heat in the apartment for a few days now, super came in and looked at it, couldn't fix it so now we have to wait for the power company to comp as they have the repair contract. Earliest I could get them to come was Friday morning between 8am-2pm. So I am gonna be waiting at home all day in the cold for em. I just hope they manage to fix it on the spot as its getting colder each day outside.
Now for something that I snarked from thaily I must say that this is probably the best explanation of what even I think of the whole Prop 8 thing. |

| Exercise makes one sore |
[Nov. 7th, 2008|10:15 am] |
| [ | mood |
| | sore | ] | So I had my first session with the personal trainer last night. Had 30 minutes of talking and figuring things out plus paperwork to fill up and then 30 minutes of trial exercises to see what I can do, what levels I'm at and what equipment he needs to bring with him next time. His name is chuck and he's a pleasant older gentleman, quite gaunt but knows what he's talking about, so hush all of you with the hitting on the trainer jokes.
On a side note, seems like life didn't like me being only a lil sore and threw a car at me as well. I'm fine as is the car, he rear ended me and caused no damage to my car, his car was another story. The beauty of metal vs. plastic. It just left me a bit more sore as it was a low speed impact, stop and go traffic and he thought he could go before I did even though I was in front of him. |

| | sleepy | ] | OK, I know its been a while since I posted last, but I decided didn't really make sense to post till I had something good to post.
So here's the good news, I've started to lose weight and starting tonight I begin sessions with a personal trainer. My parents are covering them, guy comes to my flat, brings whatever equipment is needed and we do a one hour workout session. We're starting at 3 a week and then taper it down after a few weeks and I keep going on my own. Hopefully it'll work out that in not to long of a period I'll be half the dragon I used to be.
The only real thing that concerns me with this is my knee. Some of you have heard that my knee basically blew out about 2 months or so ago, I had to be rushed for an emergency MRI and could barely walk. Turns out I have a partially torn ACL, hypermobile patella and chrondomalcia patella. I'm gonna have to make sure the trainer knows this and doesn't do anything that'll cause the ACL to tear further, last thing I want is to have to go for surgery. I've been rehabbing it at home since I haven't found a good rehab place around me that takes my insurance and now I can even walk without my knee brace. Stairs are still an enemy and I use a cane outside but not for walking. My knee still gives out from time to time as its not up to par yet and so the cane is if it gives out so I can catch myself outside.
As for other things, not much to tell, been working and doing little things here and there, went to AC and Fur Fright. Mostly though been keeping to myself and working long hours, so nothing really new there. I do have amusing pictures of a hard drive that failed on a comp I was working on. http://www.falconeio.com/HD the first two show the magnetic dust on the inside cover the rest show where the exploded magnetic head use to be and the gouge ripped into the plate.
Uhmmm..not much else to say, we'll see, I'll try to post more often as ppl have been bugging me. |

| | amused | ] | OK, I just got a phone call from a non-fur down in florida. He had, had Bucky staying with him from Nov 1st - Dec 14th as a house boy, helping him out since he's sick. While I was on the phone with him, the florida police called me up to ask me if I know Bucky and when I've seen him and all that, confirming the validity of the other call that I was on. (Yes, I backtraced the caller ID number to the police station) Turns out he had run on them after figuring out how to open the safe, steal all that was inside and had also stolen some of their credit card numbers and gotten cards for himself. So now the cops in Florida are talking to the cops in New Jersey and want to also talk to the cops in New York once those reports are finished being filed. He got away with a few thousand in cash and also with pieces of sentimental jewelry that meant a lot to this guy. So if anyone has seen Bucky since December 14th 2007 and especially got jewelery from him, please contact Detective Randy Wilson of the Delray police department at 561-243-7895.
Now this guy had found me cause he googled Bucky's name and all the posts ppl have repeated over and over brought mine and Q's info, otherwise we would never have known about each other. I really have to thank you all for the support we've seen so far in this situation and it has paid off in a few ways it seems.
Ohh and on a side note, this person said that Bucky had told him that he was AWOL from the Army National Guard since he didn't want to go to Iraq, but was supposedly in contact with them to try and smooth his way back in. |

| | tired | ] | I've been stuck at work since 11:00. Got called at 06:30 by the administrator who informs me that no one can call into the facility and so I have to deal with it. After waking up I made some calls to vendors and couldn't solve the issue over the phone. So I rushed to work and found that both smartjacks were showing red on the alarm lights. With this knowledge I called the phone company and got nowhere with them other than they have an issue and a possible fibre break somewhere. Now I am stuck here till they fix the issue so that I can ensure that the system works once it comes back up.
The problem is that I've discovered what actually happened finally and am not going to stay till its done, I'm outta here by 20:00. Someone sliced through one of Verizon's primary OC12's in Manhattan and since its before the switches, they can't do reroutes. So I could be here another hour or another 4 and still not have them done. I'm too tired for that. I'm going home, cya all. |

OK, so I've moved into my new place and am finally settled in here in Weehawken, NJ and am trying to get a house warming party going. Me and Quentin are trying to find out when we should hold it and were aiming for the 15th, but we have been told that some cannot make that day. So we are giving a secondary day as an option and we'd like to know which of the following two saturdays would work for a larger number of people. The party will be a BBQ party since my parents were nice enough to provide me with a monster propane grill for my backyard. So vote and we'll set it based on when the larger number of ppl say they can make it.

| | groggy | ] | Something very freaky is happening in the sky right now.
I was driving to the deli to grab cat food when I first noticed it. Bright flashes of light in the sky, now this in itself isn't so strange, what was strange first off is that they were every few seconds. So I get to the deli, do my purchase and get home quickly. I inform Cat of what I've seen and we both go to investigate further.
What we saw was a hidden cloud, except for when there was lightning you couldn't see this lil cloud. Every few seconds the cloud would give off a lightning bolt, but none of the strikes were hitting ground, they were limited to within the cloud, causing the clould to light up all shades of whites and yellows and a few long arcing arms away from the cloud, parallel to the horizon. Not once did we see a single down strike. The strangest part is that there wasn't a single sound from any of the strikes, in fact the air was quieter than normal.
I'm not sure what to make of this phenomenom, as I've never seen it before. Anyone else has? |

| | tired | ] | So AC was awesome, caught up with a lot of people that I've been meaning to and pretty much used the con for that. So many people and so little time. I do regret that the con was so short and that I didn't manage to catch up wth everyone I wanted to. Not much beyond that to tell about AC, I spent most of it lurking in the zoo or around friends and catching up with events. I did though get one nice thing from it, I got my new Susan Van Camp original that I will take a few dgital shots of when I get a chance and a good camera in my hands.
The con was over and I flew back home, the plane was delayed a few hours due to JFK and then traffic at JFK made it so that my mother had to spend 30 mins trying to drive a half mile to get to me. So I get home around 23:00 and am showered and dressed and out the door, picking up Wraith on my way and head to work to prep the place till about 04:00. Now for those that don't know, July 10-11 was the massive move date for my facility. We have just finished building a brand new, state of the art $48 million dollar nursing home and everything had to be moved. I am so glad I had the help of (in alphabetical order since I no one was more important than the other and all were crucial in getting this done) Battie, Kitt, Wolfgang and Wraith. They helped me move every comp in the place to the locations they needed to be in. They are lucky though, they had a chance to sleep, I drove them back and forth each day. In the end though I worked 07:00 Tuesday - 21:00 Wednesday and it was a grueling move. I'm still working on getting everything up and running and have thankfully Wraith as an intern helping me to get it all done. I am besieged every day by calls of ppl needing things done and I can barely keep up. I even worked Sunday and am glad that it is over for the next 2 days.
There is good news though, after a long ass time, I am finally getting my raise and not the measly 3% they are giving everyone else as they do each year, but a whopping 20%, jumping me up to $70k/year.
But I am crashing, so I'll end this here before I fall asleep a second time on the keyboard, wish everyone a good night and cya all. |

| | excited | ] | Well things are moving forward finally and its time for celebration, me and quentincoyote have just found the perfect place. We are heading over later today to place the deposit and sign off on the place. Its located in Weehawken, NJ and an amazing fnd. The place is the first floor of a house, has a living room 3 times my current one, a full large kitchen, dish washer, 2 bedroom, 2 bathrooms, a server room, our own private backyard, a driveway for my car and washing machine and dryer. The place is gonna run us $2400/month but that also includes all utilities and parking. The place is about a min from the bluffs that overlook the manhattan skyline, right off the light rail and only a few mins from the tunnel.
For those wondering about the breathing machine for when I sleep. I ended up with a bi-pap with built in humidifier. It isn't very big and comes with its own travel case. Here is the machine http://www.resmed.com/en-us/products/flow_generators/vpap_iii_subpages/humidaire2i.html?menu=products1 with the humidifier attached to the front and here is the piece that goes on my face http://www.resmed.com/en-us/products/masks/mirage_swift_II_nasal_pillows_system/Mirage-Swift-II-Nasal-Pillows-System.html as you can see I'm all ready to go snorkeling. I'm nearly used to having something shoved up my nose, though I find I take it off still at times in the night as I sleep. I am waking up with more energy, which is definately a good thing.
OK, gotta got for now, later all. |

| Turning Point |
[Mar. 10th, 2007|03:52 am] |
| [ | mood |
| | sleepy | ] | Time for an update I guess and I do have a few things to tell.
First off, for those of you that have been wondering, the biopsy came back as a mild Spongiotic Dermatitis. Unfortunately that just means the biopsy discovered that I have what I have. So after all that, all they could tell me is that I have EAC with no clue as to what is causing it. Though they did confirm with the biopsy that there is no sign of an fungal infection. So all you that have been telling me that I have ring worm...hah..here's the absolute proof that it isn't.
The decided that the next step was a full blood workup. They ordered a Lyme Disease test, a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel with eGFR and a CBC with Diff/Plt. I'll explain each one quickly along with what the results where.
The Lyme Disease test is simplistic enough, it's a genetics test that checks for Lyme Disease in the blood. It came back negative for Lyme. The doctor wanted it done just to rule it out as it was the most unlikely off all the options.
The comprehensive metabolic panel with eGFR is a blood test that measures your sugar level, electrolyte and fluid balance, kidney function, and liver function. The eGFR stands for estimating glomerular filtration rate and is used to test for further kidney functions. In the end though, the only thing that the test found was a very slighted elevated glucose level, but that is cause I ate before the blood test, when I didn't know I was getting a blood test and a slightly elevated liver function. The elevated live function is due to the stress on my body from not only weight but from sometihng else I'll post about further down.
The CBC with Diff/Plt stands for Complete Blood Cell count with Differential and Platelet Count. This counts all the three types of blood cells in a sample and gives the counts. The differential makes the lab give greater detail on each type of white blood cell and how many of each type are present. This test shows things like cancer, clotting factor, Immuno diseases and so forth. This test showed nothing at all, stating that everything was in the norm on all counts.
So in the end, the blood workup ended up telling nothing about what could be causing the EAC and it ended up with the doctor giving me the spiel that at times EAC may have no cause and just appears. I've read enough on it and talked to others to know that it's a BS response to cover one's tracks. It means he doesn't know after all that what could be the cause and doesn't want to do anything else. So he gave me a cream to help the patches vanish, but that just hides the symptoms and doesn't deal with the cause. I guess I need to figure out what to do next.
The big thing that has happened was that I went to a sleep clinic on wednesday. That was an annoying experience, getting probes and conductive gel put all over and wires draped here and there and then being told to sleep with it all on ya. Though the probs monitored every aspect of my sleeping along with mics and an infrared night camera. You go in at night and sleep the night away there while they monitor every aspect of your sleep. Getting up in the middle of the night and going to the bathroom is an experience. You sit up careful not to pull wires or pads from you, call out that you need to go and someone comes into the room, the person then unhooks a box from the main machine and slowly walks you and the wires to the bathroom. You get left alone to do your job and then are walked back carefully and plugged back in. The room itself is equivalent to most hotel rooms and the bed was a comfortable queen sized one. SO you lay there and get tested and my face got itchier and itchier as the night progressed. It was finally over and the techs looked worried, after unhooking me from the machines they brought me into the control room showed me charts from the probes.
Let me take a quick break here to explain, there are 5 levels of sleep: Stage 1: Where what are called Alpha waves, which are what you have when awake, begin to vanish and you start to see theta wavevs. Stage 2: Is where what is happening on the outside vanishes for most Stage 3: Is where you start to see Delta waves and are moving toward deep sleep. Stage 4: Delta sleep actually kicks in and is where you are in your deepest sleep. Stage 5: REM sleep begins and you actually enter the dream state and as Thaily so nice put it, your mind defrags.
The tests showed that I never go past stage 2 sleep as I sleep for no more than 15-30 seconds at a time. Which means I haven't had real sleep in years and no real dreams, and explains my lethargy and memory loss and a few other things. It is within those seconds that I also am not breathing until I give a snore and pull in more air. This also means that the oxygen saturation levels in my blood drops. When awake I have very good O2 saturation at 98%, when I sleep it drops to 79% and that is cause for alarm. Anything below 90% would get most ppl hospitalzed or dead. The docs say if it weren't for me having such a strong heart, the stress that all this has been putting on would've caused it to stop a while back, which explains a lot of the chest pains. All that means that I have been diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. So next week I go to be fitted for a CPAP machine which will force oxygen into my lungs when I am asleep.
If this all works I should be a brand new person, energetic, able to remember past 5 seconds ago and losing weight. So it is truely a turning point for me and we shall see what happens. Till than, cya all, for now I need to go as I've been dropping in and out of sleep while typing this, Night all. |

In this case it was Ricoh with copiers that would also act as Fax machines and copiers. Along with a digital filing cabinet and so forth. The machines where nice to play with, but it was lunch that was really good. They took us out to lunch, to a place called the Capital Grill. This place has a nice atmosphere and is known for its 21 day dry rubbed aged meats. I ended up geting this wonderful kohna coffee dry rub 14oz sirloin. It was very tasty and worth the $34 they paid for it.
Another bit of news is that I have a hole in my arm now. Finally went to get the biopsy that I've been putting off for a year now. To answer the question of why I got the biopsy, its cause I have Erythema Annulare Centrifugum. I've had the condition for years, but its been slowly getting worse, before where it would stick my upper arms only, its now spreading down my arms. I got the hole cut out last week and will know the results next wednesday when I go back to get the stiches taken out. The stiches BTW are driving me insane as I keep on trying not to scratch them. They bored out a piece the size and depth of a pencil eraser. It was kwel watching them cut in, lift out the sample and cut through the connective tissue, then sew me up.
Oh well..I wanna head out of work, so cya all later |
